THE INDEPENDENT VOICE OF THE VISUAL ARTS
The New Art Examiner's purpose is to examine the current moment in visual arts. A prime purpose is to assist in the nurture of genuine art criticism and to put the artist above the market as the center of artistic enterprise. We seek to cover the exhibition scene, both traditional and alternative, and give voice to artists, those known and yet-to-be-discovered.
We will probe the forces, domestic and international, shaping our culture, including the agencies of patronage which shape the transmission of culture such as museums, schools, dealers and collectors. We look for new, experimental efforts in the production of art. Above all, we are committed to perpetuating the legacy of NAE co-founders, Jane Addams Allen and Derek Guthrie in maintaining an open forum for the serious discussion of issues in the arts.
